as others have mentioned, i'm a little surprised that only the 17inch model has a 7200rpm drive option. i'm going to check with apple directly to see if i can get a custom 15inch with a 7200 drive. my audio apps don't work well with the anything slower.
having said that, the ram, fw800 and dual layer burner are a nice addition
i was wondering about the 5400/7200 issue as well, especially as ill be doing a lot of audio and graphics work on my 15"...do you really think it'll make that much of a difference save a few seconds?

Of course there is. iOS runs on two currently available Apple smartphone models: 3GS and 4. The iOS that runs on these phones is sufficiently different in feature sets from the iOS that runs on Tablets, media consumption devices, and Apple TVs:
-Larger resolution on tablets
-Communications handled separately - No phone app or visual voicemail on Tablet or iPod Touch
-No installable apps on Apple TV
AppleTV isn't being counted. If it had apps, it would be. For now, while it's running iOS "under the hood", Apple and analysts aren't actually mentioning that or using it in counts.
And the differences between iPad / iPod / iPhone are orders of magnitude less than the differences between the ultra-high and ultra-low ends of what is being counted as Android "phones".
This whole "smartphone OS" is something dreamed up in the last few weeks by Android apologists, after the numbers showed that Apple has the most popular OS and the most popular piece(s) of hardware in the mobile industry.

I think dual core i7 or i5 is more likely for the base 21.5". It's great there will be newer machines. I won't be upgrading my 4-month-old base. Instead, I'd get a SSD, 128GB or 160GB would do fine for me. Waiting for the prices to fall down.
There aren't any desktop Sandy Bridge dual-core i7s. The low-end will most likely be either dual-core i3 or i5, however there's only one dual-core i5, the rest of the i5s and i7s are all quads.

What about those who lost their lives in 9/11? They probably deserved to live, but can you give them life back?
Like I said - the world needed him alive, and I wish they had just captured him instead. Nothing constructive comes out of cheering over somebody else's death.
Most of the Muslim students in my old high-school were cheering and having a great celebration after 9/11. That is the real reason why I have had problems with Muslims in general since after that day (though I must admit I was already sceptical after the Rushdie case). I know they didn't cause 9/11 by celebrating it after it had already happened... but would they have been cheering happily if I had died in a similar attack?
But if I were in NYC today, I'd probably celebrate with the rest, be it ever so wrong. I'm only human, and I love revenge, just like everybody else :D

I think I have lost 7 -10k points from the 10th 11th and 12th instead of gaining ~60-70k pts. the 10th I had ~3420 the 11th was ~7200 and the 12th was ~3420. now it's ~3420, 0 and I think 0. Don't suppose it would do any good to complain since I don't have any "proof" of what happened.
Oh well it's just a "game" anyway :rolleyes: and as long as I'm doing something meaningfull that is what really counts anyway. I'm not smart enough to contribute to science myself so this is my way to add to our knowledge of the universe and life.

Look... I don't want to be a hater or anything like that but I have a first generation Ipod Touch... I got it as a present for my birth day, a month latter my wife have an Iphone 4 for her birthday so she sold her 3gs that i used to compare with My phone, the nexus One, look guys I need to be honest here, I got FULL Flash in my phone since it came out in the app market , and so far NOT a single problem with it, I remember when Jobs says it is not possible for a mobile device to have flash blah, battery drain, blah, poor performance blah, blah, blah... Dude flash is Awesome on my Android phone! no lag, no battery fast drain fast, no problems!!! do you guys have any tiny little Idea how @$#%^ cool it is going to www.newgrounds.com on my phone!? do you know!? or just playing online games like the ones on www.arcadepod.com? plus most of the apps are free!!! including that pathetic flash converter browser Skyfire that by the way is being in Android app market for like forever already!!! also it is sad that you have to Root (aka jailbroke) to get 20% more "liberty" with your phone! I already "convert" 4 Iphone users to Android at my job (400 plus workers) the rest are just plain envious of what android is capable of!!! without ROOTING!!! ahhh and don't get me starting in what you can do with a Root Android phone... My next Phone will be the Android HTC G2 that once rooted you can "BOST" to the phone to its real power........... 1.4 ghz!!!!!!!!!!!! As usual American's (yeah I'm American) love to blame someone for their own responsibility. It's so weird how people on here fight for freedom from the lockdowns that Apple puts on it's developers, freedoms from the limitations and restrictions Apple puts on the iPhone (hence why people jailbreak). Yet when a parent doesn't take accountability for their absence of judgement and legal obligation to be responsible for their child, everyone goes off on Apple for not having the protections in place to prevent this?
There are so many hypocrites in this country, probably because nobody wants to take accountability for their own actions. What if it were a gun. If the parent left it on the night stand with a bullet in it, and the kid picked it up and shot & killed someone, would you all be blaming the maker of the gun? No, you'd be going after the parents for failure to supervise their kid which led to actions causing someone's death.
So why is it different here?

Nice. Those amd machines add up since you have so many. How do you deal with heat?
The heat is an issue, for now I can open windows and use fans but by next summer I will have to do something about it. I'm actually contemplating cutting a hole in the basement floor (concrete) and digging down several feet to place a tubing coil that could be used to cool the cpu's directly with water blocks. That would require a manifold to distribute the coolant to all of the cpu's and possibly gpu's. That might be cheaper electric wise but would take money and time to implement. Wait a sec, I just realized I already have a hole in the floor for the sump, hmmmm. Anyway I have some time to contemplate the possibilities, and I can do all of the work myself. I know some folks in the heating/cooling business that could help design a system so I will maybe talk with them at some point. Another possibility is a small window ac just for the computer room or moving everything to the basement where it is cooler anyway... but damp in the spring. Lots of possibilities - Google is my friend :D

I'm not sure at what price point predatory pricing becomes an issue, but I would think that Amazon may have crossed that line.
Now, it may be possible that Amazon is not offering the same product at $.69 a song. For example I have downloaded a song from Amazon that I paid $.99 for, and was surprised to see it did not have the same sample rate as my iTunes songs.
At some point I can't see the studios nor the artists wanting to take an income-per-song hit without having their say about it. If Amazon is selling music at a loss per song, then the FTC might have a say about that.

Some how I doubt that. You have an iPhone 4 and your upgrade isn't until 11/25/2011 (as previously stated by you). I guess you could go android but it may come at a steep cost.

In Australia, I'm getting the 15-inch with 2GB, 2.33GHz, 160GB HD, shipping on/before 1 Nov, arriving to Brisbane on/before 8 Nov. I couldn't justify spending an extra $A818.40 (edu price) for an extra GB of RAM nor an extra $A140.80 for the 200GB HD. Reviews of the 200GB HD at tomshardware.com say performance is very average, and I would have felt about queasy about such bleeding-edge HD technology.
I agree about the memory, but IMHO the 200GB is a no brainer. But then I like all my multimedia, you can't have too much space.

Also, I'n not a big fan of using batteries in mice. Why not have a wireless mouse that is re-chargable? Or one that you can use wires with if the battery gets low?

Why should every single device I need to recharge have a seperate wire to deal with, or even if it were some common wire, like the one used with the iPod, why should I have to keep track of all these things when I can just use rechargable batteries in everything and then charge them from a single charger? If I am at work and my BT mouse dies in the morning, should I have to hook a cord to my computer or the wall to charge it? Even if I can still use it as it charges, what was the point of getting the BT? With batteries, I just have two sets and can swap them out on the fly when needed while the others charge.
EDIT: BTW, I absolutely love my Mighty Mouse and was thinking just this morning how I would love to have one with BT. I am in need of another mouse as I have taken my wireless and Mighty Mouse to work and have a lonely iMac at home. SWEET!
