Judging by the video and screen shots of Lion it doesn't seem like there are that many elements left that use appearance colour anymore anyway. Seems like active buttons and progress bars are the only ones that use still use this colour. It's gone from Scroll Bars, Group Tabs, Popup Lists.
Yes I'm hoping like Highlight Colour it becomes completely user choice with a few well chosen default colours. I do prefer Graphite personally it's just tones things down to be less garish so although with extreme reduction in use the blue may not be so bad.
Any sign that they maybe standardizing on a sidebar background colour?
What with a couple of greys and a blue across various Apple apps. it would be good if this was user definable as well?

The decimal numbering system is the base 10 numbering system. In a decimal number, the rightmost place value is 1. Ten will be the place-value of the next place to the left. The place-value of the third place to the left will be 100, and so forth. In any numbering, the current place-value will be the base * the previous place-value. The first place is always the rightmost place, and its place-value is always 1.
An octal 213 = 3 + 8 + 128. That's a decimal 139.

I just had to post to tell everyone how much I love this thing. How can anyone live with a one button mouse?
I has three buttones on the left side of the mouse for your thumb. I have these set for one to go forward/next/page down and one to go backward/previous/page up and then the middle one to flip between pages that are open within one application. Makes browsing macrumors and multiple threads fast especially with the scroll wheel on the top.
And then you can click the scroll whell, I have that programed for expose to only show the desktop.
And then wait, still two more buttons. One of the buttons on the scroll wheel I have programmed to expose all windows and the other to show all the windows in one application. What is that like 6 buttons?

I've had no issues with SL like you're describing, including the applications you've mentioned. Remember that crashing issues may or may not be related to the OS... there's as good a chance of the software application in question being at fault as SL.
Except I've had the same results on all the machines I've had that ran Snow Leopard.
MacBook Pro 2.33ghz Late 2006
MacBook Pro 13 2.26
Mac Mini 2.26
Mac Mini 2.4
MacBook Pro 2.66
It's been equally problematic on all of them.

I remember this rumor being circulated before the 3G was even released.
I don't think it'll happen and I don't think it would look good if it did.

Thanks for responding so quickly. No, no chance of a different document. It is a very unique magazine. I have been working on this mag since last Monday - and have opened and closed it countless times. This is really STRANGE.
I'm not using backup software. I just use the 2nd hard drive to "double back up" in case. I do this at least once a day - or if I have done major changes to a job
With the permissions thing - I did a "file info" in another totally different job folder and went to details and changed the "group" access to "read and write" (cause it wasn't letting me save things in that folder even though me being the owner it said "read and write).
I am not on a network or anything - just a stand-alone osx 10.3.3
Have done a check and it doesn't seem to have affected anything elseFiles don't just suddenly revert to previous versions. It would appear that you last edited the file in your "double back up," that your back up file replaced your working file, or that you did not save your latest work.

Consumer services don't work well as a real CDN. Here are some suggestions:
VPS (http://www.vps.net/?r=rErb) (UK company)
Amazon cloud s3 (http://aws.amazon.com/s3/)
Rackspace (http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/cloud_hosting_products/files/)
I vote RS.
After amazon's latest flubs and being hacked w/ wikileaks, I'd be hesitant to rely on them right about now.

Ok, I have been attending the Expo for 10+ years, but never made the Keynote. This year I forked over $200+ for the Conference Pass and will be camping out tonight in hopes of getting in. However, I won't be arriving until after 8pm and will have to get my credentials in the morning. Will I have enough time? Also, what time do people start lining up?
Thanks in advance! :D

So the US kind of sucks with the stock market. We can't do After Hours trading like other countries can, so if the market is crashing we are screwed. Not to mention the media can tape Jobs walking akwardly out of the cancer place and the stock drops more than 20$. Kind of like insider trading in a way.
Anyways I am writing to see what people think about the market constantly dropping because of these 3rd world countries fighting over leadership. Thoughts? Anyone lost money if you own Apple stock because of this mess or any other stocks?

I would have to agree with a few that have posted here. There seems to be a mind set in some of the mac community that you have to upgrade! You need to have the newest shiny mac! And frankly I really don't get it. As I am typing this on my G3/800/10.4/768 iBook that bloody well does everything I need it to do on a daily basis. I have a dual G4 and dual G5 in the home office, but I really don't have the time to be in there with my daily computer needs. So if what you have does what you need? Video card issue? Meh. I have had 2 G3/900 iBooks pouch out on me with video issues, but let me tell ya, they where a hell of a lot cheaper to replace and do what I wanted them to do, than the newest mac on the block. And with that I will put away my soap box and continue using this aging beast on a a daily basis. ;)

I think I've figured out what the issue is, so I'm posting for the benefit of any user who may come across this problem in the future.
I was sharing a folder on an NTFS partition on my hard drive. The NTFS partition is intended to be used as a shared storage space between my dual-boot OS's of Windows 7 and OS X on my MacBook (since Windows 7 is unable to read from the HFS+ file system that OS X uses).
When I tried sharing a folder on my Macintosh HD (in the HFS+ file system), I was able to have the settings stick. I'm not sure why it didn't allow the settings for the NTFS volume to stick, especially since I have NTFS-3G installed to enable write access to the volume, as well as read. (By default, OS X doesn't allow write access to NTFS file systems). I'm guessing that this is a bug that would be fixed in the future when OS X supports writing to NTFS volumes natively.
So, if you want to share something on your Mac over the network, and you want to define users and their permissions, you should make sure that the folders that you're sharing are on a drive or partition formatted to HFS+.

If you are a rational person, one should know that it isn't reasonable to expect a break until Lion is officially announced. However, you could always write a letter to Obama and 'hope' that things will 'change.' :) People are getting things in this country they shouldn't have and they just expect more and more.

You don't see it on Dell's website because it isn't there...YET. The article linked above clearly states that phone orders of some models are currently available with web sales to begin soon. It's called reading, folks. Top to bottom, left to right. Group of words makes a sentence. Take Tylenol for any headaches, Midol for any cramps. :D

My MPB has a 200GB hardrive. I'm running 32 bit Vista. I tend to play Windows games so I allocated 80GB to Windows but then purchased two small (3x5x.5") travel hard drives- a 200GB drive for Windows and a 500GB drive for Mac stuff. This arrangement has worked well for me.

This does look like iOS4 is turning into Apple's Vista. I've begun noticing odd quirks with my iPhone 4. Frequently, the screen refuses to shift into landscape or portrait mode when I turn it. The only thing that seems to fix the problem is a re-boot of the phone. Reception is still wonky. In the exact same location it will shift from 5 bars of 3G to 1 bar of EDGE, then 1 bar of 3G and then to 3 bars of EDGE. I've had several bizarre syncing problems when either iTunes or iPhoto reported simply, "An error has occurred."
When it works, it's great. But it certainly has been more finicky than my old 3G, which was rock-solid.

........is that some of the hardware, even 2 or 3 years old, can do anything any new system can do. My 400mhz iMac DV runs Photoshop pretty damn well, sure it doesn't launch in .00003 seconds, but I can hanle the .5 second delay...... I just ordered a dual ghz G4 quicksilver, and I have no doubt that will be even faster then my Athalon XP2100+ ..........and while both of these systems are now considered "outdated" ........if my old iMac dv can handle most of today's software, I can just imagine what this supposedly outdated Quiclksilver I'm getting is going to do.
There is always a race for the latest and greatest, but I think systems have become so powerful that anything bought in the past year or so will now be viable for many years to come. Kind of like cars...... dramatic changes in the first 30-40 years........ but progress kind of leveled off after that....... or at least slowed to a point where a 20-30 year old vehicle could still operate on a highway without a problem......sort of like my mint 1980 Jeep CJ7:cool:

The only logical thing, should anything get released, would be Final Cut Server.
Other related products are DVD Studio Pro 5, Blu-Ray Drives, Phenomenon (Shake Successor) and Cinema Displays. I do not expect the first three until NAB at the earliest. The Displays maybe at the developers conference.
Apple would not announce Newton 2 at a Final Cut User Event.
